It is now or never.

Those were the words of Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham as he discussed the potential arrival of Frank Lampard and the prospect of the club's loan army getting game time at Stamford Bridge this upcoming season.

"This year is the most important year for us [young players]. It is now or never. There will never be a better time to play the youngsters," the 21-year-old was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

"There is a great chance for us so we must get our heads down at training and go for it at Chelsea," Abraham later added.

There is no doubt about it, with the Blues under a transfer embargo, the youngsters from the loan army have a real chance here, a chance that some of them might never get again as Abraham has pointed out.

With Lampard, who talkSPORT believe could be appointed as Chelsea boss any moment now, unable to use the transfer market, he will only be able to turn to that group of loan players and academy products if he wants to improve his squad this summer.

And if that turns out to be the case, as expected, then the 41-year-old will not be starved of options.

If he feels there is a need for another central defender, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori are there. In midfield, he can call upon a man he has heavily relied on at Derby County, Mason Mount. And up front, Abraham himself could be a very promising addition to the squad.

These players will arguably not get a better chance; it really is now or never for them.
