Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has agreed a move back to Monaco after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
The Frenchman has moved back to the club whom he moved to the Blues from in the first place just a couple of seasons ago, and the midfielder will be hoping to get back to something like his best for the Ligue 1 giants.
Confirmed by the club’s official website, Bakayoko will spend the entire season back with his former club as Chelsea manager Frank Lampard opts to go with some of his younger players such as Mason Mount and Ross Barkley in the midfield.
Bakayoko never got going for the Blues in and struggled to have a big impact on things at Chelsea in terms of both goals and assists, managing only two goals in the 2017/18 season.
In terms of his passing too, Bakayoko falls well behind current Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. Jorginho made over 2700 passes last season in comparison to Bakayoko’s 954 in a similar amount of appearances the season before.
Chelsea dropped points this weekend and are currently under a transfer ban. However, it appears Frank Lampard has made his mind up over Bakayoko.
Probably one of the least surprising transfers of the summer this and one which has been coming a while.
Bakayoko looked so poor for Chelsea it was only really a matter of time before he got farmed out on loan again.
It says a lot about the club’s thoughts on the player given they are banned from signing players. Hopefully he can focus and get back to his best with a club he is comfortable with over in France.
