Our punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are sat around the bar, waiting to hear what the London Evening Standard has to offer tonight.
This is after our landlord noted that Chelsea fans would be very interested in some of the latest gossip.
The publication claims that Ryan Bertrand – currently on loan at Aston Villa – has not ruled out a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge.
The young star is on loan at Villa Park until the end of the season and despite once promising so much, he has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and failed to rack up any minutes under Jose Mourinho, meaning he had to take his chances elsewhere.
Now he has claimed: “I’m just here to concentrate on each game as it comes and to get back playing regularly. I’ll leave all that stuff until the end of the season.
“You can’t rule anything out. It’s important, first and foremost, that my performances are good enough. I need to concentrate on each game.
“I’ve settled in quite easily. It’s fortunate, to be fair, because I know half the team through England at younger ages. It has been good. It’s great to be involved in a derby for my first home game.”
Of course, as one of our punters notes, Chelsea not only have Bertrand and Cesar Azpilicueta who can fill in at left back, but also veteran Ashley Cole while the Blues are also considering a bid for Southampton’s Luke Shaw.
Our punters reckon Bertrand has no long-term future with Chelsea? What do you think? Let us know your thoughts below.
