Chelsea looking likely to seal first major summer transfer, player has reportedly agreed to move

The Chelsea fans are absolutely delighted at reports hinting that the Blues are closing in on their first major signing of the summer…

According to The Gambling Times, Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has decided to move Chelsea this summer – with the ex-Celtic centre-half having told his club of his decision. Significantly, it is said that Southampton will not stand in the way of a move – leaving the route clear for Chelsea to get their man.

This is certainly an exciting piece of news for Chelsea, with a new central defender a priority for Antonio Conte this summer. With John Terry set to leave the club at the end of the year, it was essential that a replacement was signed – and it would appear as though van Dijk is the man that has been chosen.

He would certainly fit in seamlessly, with the Dutchman undoubtedly one of the Premier League’s breakout players this season. Prior to an injury, he was Southampton’s most impressive star – making it unsurprising to see big clubs like Chelsea considering a move for him.

Strong with the ball at his feet, powerful in the air and agile – our landlord thinks that van Dijk is the perfect man to for Conte’s new-look 2017-18 Chelsea defence.
