Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are certainly hoping the latest claim from Metro is a joke.
The publication have claimed that Remy Cabella is set to be offered big money by the Blues to snub an offer from Newcastle this summer and join Jose Mourinho’s men instead.
As one of our punters points out over a pint, the simple fact of the matter is yes, Chelsea have the money to offer £90,000-a-week and indeed a £7 million bid is nothing to them, but do the club really need another number ten?
Montpellier midfielder Cabella would certainly not be a first choice pick and the consensus in the tavern is that not only would he be better off going to Newcastle in terms of developing his career but he certainly would push it two steps back by joining Chelsea.
The versatile attacking player has told Montpellier that he will not be penning a new deal and has therefore been told he can leave this summer – for the £7 million that the Blues and Magpies are willing to pay.
Would Cabella become the ultimate utility player like Mohamed Salah if he were to join Chelsea this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
