Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have become accustomed to seeing their side linked with big names, so the latest report regarding an unknown prodigy has sparked some debate at the bar.
TalkSport, citing claims from French outlet L’Equipe, state Chelsea are looking to hijack Bordeaux’s move to land promising Mali youngster Amadou Haidara, who starred at the U17 World Cup last summer.
The 18-year-old is currently on-trial with Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux but has not agreed a deal with the club, which has allowed the likes of Monaco and Granada to also express interest.
However, Chelsea want to see off their rivals in the market and add Haidara to their already bolstering youth ranks, with the Premier League side confident of completing a deal when they hold talks with the player at the end of the season.
Although Haidara wouldn’t provide an immediate boost to Chelsea’s first-team, our landlord feels the Blues need to utilise their youngsters more regularly and a change in that approach could prove to work into the player’s favour.
