The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting a quiet few days…
Whilst Chelsea have not brought in any players this month, it has been a fairly busy one for the Blues’ brass. A number of high-profile departures, including that of Oscar and John Obi Mikel, have been completed in recent weeks – though it has remained quiet when it comes to incoming players.
Due to the lack of incoming action thus far, the majority of the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern weren’t expecting much from transfer deadline day, but it would appear as though that could change.
As per Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol on Twitter, Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac.
Solhekol notes that Chelsea are looking to steal a march on Juventus for the defender, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Schalke’s unwillingness to sell could mean that a move comes in the summer, rather than now, but it would appear that there is genuine interest from Chelsea’s end.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t so sure about this, especially after seeing how well Nathan Ake performed in the FA Cup. Whilst Marcos Alonso certainly needs back up on the left-hand side, Ake proved that he could play the role at the weekend – and should Kolasinac come in – he would likely take the Dutchman out of the equation for that position.
There’s no doubting the quality that the defender has, though, with his expert tackling and work-rate aligning perfectly with Antonio Conte’s philosophies.
