Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that positive January activity can save their season, so they’re ecstatic to hear they may beat Manchester United to a midfield talent.
Gazzetta Dello Sport state Jose Mourinho’s side have made a £2.8m bid for Marko Grujic, as they look to win the race for the talented and highly-rated Red Star Belgrade midfielder.
It seems the struggling Premier League champions are now leading the race for the 19-year-old, with Inter Milan and Manchester United also keen on the teenager.
Whilst the talented midfielder may not seem to be the immediate answer to Chelsea’s wealth of problems and lack of form, the 19-year-old would provide competition to the under-performing first-team members and presents a huge option for the future.
Chelsea are not renowned for giving young talent a fair chance of making a breakthrough though, so they must be wary of swoops from other side’s interested in Grujic- which could lure him away from the temptation of a move to West London.
