Chelsea make offer to land £30m South American star

Alex TeixeiraChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their morale levels rise since the appointment of Guus Hiddink and the Blues fans are now excited about potential signings this month, with suggestions of big deals on the cards.

The Daily Star states Chelsea have made contact with Alex Teixeira as they attempt to land the Brazilian ace from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

Teixeira has been electric for the Eastern European side this season, with an astonishing record of 26 goals in 26 games. Naturally Shakhtar do not want to sell but this hasn’t put off Chelsea’s interest.

Chelsea are said to have tabled a contract offer to Teixeira and they hope a bid of £30m will convince Shakhtar to sell.

Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu has stated that Teixeira will be given his blessing to leave, should an offer be right for the Ukrainian side:

“If there is an offer that will satisfy both player and the club I will fully support his move,”

Our landlord believes Teixeira would be a solid addition to the ranks at Stamford Bridge but he’s expressed concern at the Blues approach, seemingly handing such a large transfer fund to a manager that will be gone by the summer.

Chelsea fans, is Teixeira a good long-term signing? Let us know in the comments below!
