Metro have a cracker of a story for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as they claim that Napoli’s in-demand forward Edinson Cavani has issued a come and get me plea to both Chelsea and Manchester City this summer.
The Uruguayan forward looks set to leave Rafael Benitez’ Napoli this summer and has been linked with a whole host of clubs. Now taking a leaf from the book of Radamel Falcao, he is issuing a come and get me plea to both sides.
Not long after he claimed that Jose Mourinho would be someone he would like to work with and had his mother claim City were in negotiations whilst his father claimed Real Madrid were the only club for his boy, Cavani has now spoken about his future yet again.
He noted: “Everybody wants to play for the biggest clubs in the world, clubs with a lot of tradition.
“But nobody knows my future. I only know that I am a Napoli player. The truth is that there is nothing concrete, nothing official.
“There needs to be an offer before I can go but there is nothing yet.”
Cavani of course has a £53 million release clause and another £50 million man – Fernando Torres wants to stay at Chelsea and issued a statement to Jose Mourinho with his four goal performance against Tahiti, although it must be appreciated, the South Pacific islanders are placed 138th in the FIFA rankings!
Will either Chelsea or City put an end to this long-term saga this summer? Rate this rumour below.
