Diego Costa is a fan favourite amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…
He has been a regular at Stamford Bridge since his arrival, but his time at the club appears to be coming to an abrupt end – with the striker finding himself outside of Antonio Conte’s plans ahead of the new season.
Chelsea are keen to sell the Spaniard this summer, and according to Italian journalist Angelo Mangiante, the Blues are moving closer to that end. Mangiante reports that Costa is edging closer to a move to AC Milan this summer, with discussions ongoing between the club and the Blues.

Costa has not been involved in Chelsea’s pre-season campaign, and so a move has looked likely, but any deal remained some way off.
This update, though, appears to suggest that an exit is edging closer.
With Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi now in the fold and impressing, there really is no room for Costa at Chelsea anymore.
This deal could prove to be Chelsea’s most important of the summer as they simply can’t afford to keep Diego Costa, particularly given his weekly wage, within the squad if he isn’t going to play. What’s more, a sale is likely to generate a fair amount of money for the Blues – money that could be vital as Conte looks to add more quality to his side.
Keeping him at Stamford Bridge makes little sense, but Chelsea must ensure that he isn’t sold for below his market value.
Still, an exit is beginning to look like it could come soon, so the Blues will be glad to move on from this saga.
