The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern liked what they saw of Alvaro Morata against Bayern Munich…
The Spaniard was involved in Chelsea’s second goal as the Blues lost 3-2 to Bayern Munich, and whilst he didn’t score himself, it was a strong cameo from the striker.
Thibaut Courtois, though, thinks that the best is yet to come – and speaking to Goal, the Belgian is expecting a fine campaign from Morata next season.
As per Goal, he said: “He has to learn our way of playing but I think he came in very well…He was dangerous. We saw some of his ability. He is a very good striker and he will score a lot of goals for us.”
A lot of expectation will be on the shoulders of Morata next season, and now that he has a few days of training behind him, he will be expected to get even better over the coming weeks.
Given how well Michy Batshuayi has done so far this summer, the Spaniard will have a fight on his hands to earn the right to start next season, but Courtois is clearly backing him to do just that.
If Morata’s form last season is anything to go by, there should be no doubting the suggestion that he will score a lot of goals for Chelsea next year. With a stellar record of 15 strikes in La Liga last term, he was lethal for Los Blancos as a bit-part player, so he is likely to get even better when given more of a chance.
Diego Costa looks unlikely to feature, so the Spaniard will only have to compete with Batshuayi next year – and that is a battle that he will likely be able to win.
He’s certainly under a lot of pressure, but he has all the qualities to succeed.
