The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with Michy Batshuayi as of late…
The Belgian has been mightily impressive for the Blues, having finally given a chance to shine following Chelsea’s Premier League win.
Scoring a double on the final day against Sunderland, his end to the season has left the fans in the pub wanting to see a bit more of the Belgian striker.
However, it seems as though the fine recent form of Batshuayi might not be enough to save him from the chop this summer. According to ESPN, a host of clubs – including West Ham – are keen on a loan move for Batshuayi. Furthermore, it is noted that Chelsea could be tempted into making a deal, provided that Batshuayi finds his way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
In essence, the Blues’ perspective appears to be that if they manage to sign a few new strikers this summer, Batshiuayi could be made surplus to requirements – at which point a temporary transfer might make sense.
Whilst many in the pub don’t want to see him leave, there is certainly an argument to suggest that a year away might do him good. There is no doubting that he has looked out of his depth at points this season, and a year at another club in the Premier League may help him adjust to the physicality of English football – potentially working out well for all parties in the long-run.
