Chelsea man reportedly makes transfer u-turn, he could be open to leaving the club this summer

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted with Eden Hazard’s turnaround last season…

The Belgian struggled, as Chelsea did in general, during the 2015/16 campaign, and a few question marks began to arise regarding his quality.

However, he put those fears to bed last season, with the Belgian performing fantastically under Antonio Conte en route to the Blues’ Premier League title victory.

He is a key player for Chelsea, and as such the fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted when he revealed earlier this summer that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge for a while yet, having enjoyed his time under his new manager.

However, it is being reported by Don Balon that his outlook may have changed, with the publication reporting that the departure of Neymar from Barcelona has left Hazard wanting a move to the Catalan giants. It is noted that Hazard thinks that this is the perfect time for him to make the giant leap to La Liga.

Chelsea have had a mixed summer so far, and news of a potential Hazard exit will certainly make things far worse for the fans in the pub.

Of course, any move remains some way off, and Chelsea will likely demand a seismic fee if they were to sell the Belgian, but there is clearly a window of opportunity there – and if Don Balon is to be believed – Hazard wants to take it.

Landlord’s Verdict

Eden Hazard is indispensable at Chelsea, and to lose him would be an almighty blow for Antonio Conte.

Clearly, though, the departure of Neymar at Barcelona is going to create a demand for a talented attacking midfielder, and Hazard is up there with the best in Europe.

Chelsea aren’t going to want to sell, but the La Liga giants are a tough side to turn down, and so if they come there will certainly be questions asked behind the scenes. Particularly with the Premier League season just over a week away, the Blues cannot afford to lose Hazard.
