Both Chelsea and Manchester City fans are sitting open mouthed here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Star claim that a £78 million bid is being readied for one of their top targets.
Real Madrid are reportedly set to make sure that they are the ones to land Paul Pogba when the French midfielder’s time at Juventus is up.
We think that a bid of such a large amount would certainly convince the Old Lady to part with their prized asset even with moneybags outfits like Chelsea and Manchester City also keen on the former Manchester United star.
Not only do the clubs have to worry about the potential restrictions FFP will place on them; they also have a whole heap of other transfer targets to focus on.
One thing that could well sway City into really joining the race for Pogba would be the departure of Yaya Toure.
Given the amount of times the Ivorian has been linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium, not to mention the fact that he is so vital to them, we would never say never to Manuel Pellegrini making a move for the Frenchman as a box-to-box replacement.
