It’s happy hour in the Football Transfer Tavern as we celebrate the end of another weekend of top class football.
One of the many journalists who has popped into the bar to enjoy the 2 for 1 offer is Tom Hopkinson from Mirror Football and he brings with him interesting news for all punters in the tavern.
Hopkinson reports that Manchester City are ready to move for £30 million valued Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.
The German midfielder’s current contract at the Bernabeu only has 20 months left and the Real bosses are keen to sell him on in January to avoid a similar situation to that of Xabi Alonso.
The Spanish ace is set to leave Madrid on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract in the summer and Real are eager to offload Khedira now rather than see the same happen again.
Interestingly Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Khedira and he has urged president Florentino Perez to tie down the classy midfielder on a longer term deal. Real are thought to be planning a salary increase but reports indicate that they would not be able to match Manchester City’s financial clout.
Both United and Chelsea will also be monitoring the situation for the midfielder. As their summer transfer activity hit the buffers, David Moyes saw a £43 million offer for the midfield man rejected on deadline day with Madrid considering it as too late.
Meanwhile, Jose Mouriho stillwants a reunion with the 26-year-old at Stamford Bridge after he performed admirably under the former Madrid boss in Spain.
Who do you think will land the German midfielder? Let us know your thoughts below.
