Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, Metro have a story that has Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City fans on the edge of their seats.
The publication claims that Porto are set to offer central defender and most wanted man Eliaquim Mangala a massive pay rise in order to keep him at the club and ward of the growing interest from the Premier League.
The Frenchman is one of the hottest properties in Europe at the minute and the way his star keeps rising, it is no wonder.
Our landlord notes that all of the clubs keen on landing the player are struggling at the back this season, with Chelsea looking to bring in someone to partner John Terry while offloading David Luiz.
Manchester City have seen their star skipper Vincent Kompany suffer through lack of form and fitness issues and are looking to bring in someone who can pull their back four together and allow them to push or the title.
The defending champions meanwhile are fully aware that the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are getting older, and want a young, talented star to bring in.
Mangala has assured Porto that his immediate future lies with them, but after the defender brought Jorge Mendes on board as his agent, one of our punters noted that it looks like he is gearing up for a move.
He would cost a substantial fee, but given his already notable talent and young age, it is a fee that a few clubs would be willing to pay.
Will Mangala remain in Portugal at least until the end of the 2013/14 season? Let us know your thoughts below.
