Chelsea & Manchester United target to be FORCED OUT in January?

Gerard Pique Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City fans have been given a big boost in Football Transfer Tavern by the Daily Mail.

They reveal that Gerard Pique may look for an escape route out of Barcelona after being dropped on numerous occasions this season.

The Spanish international was left out of Barca’s starting eleven for a second successive game and many feel the Catalan giants are preparing for life without him as the January transfer window draws ever closer.

Pique was most recently benched in Barcelona’s Champions League tie against Ajax on Tuesday evening after youngster Marc Bartra was chosen to link up with Javier Mascherano at the back.

This was after Pique was also left out of their La Liga fixture against Celta Vigo – which ended up in shock defeat for Luis Enrique’s men – last weekend.

TV images also revealed that Pique was on his phone whilst on the bench in the second half of the Catalan Super Cup Final, leaving fans and critics questioning his passion for the club.

The Spaniard has also had little reassurance over his standing at the club after the arrivals of Jeremy Mathieu and Thomas Vermaelan from Valencia and Arsenal respectively this past summer.

Frenchman Mathieu is preferred by Luis Enrique but despite the new arrival being currently injured, Pique is still on the bench behind Bartra in the pecking order.

It has been the talk of the tavern in the past week that Jose Mourinho has his eyes on snatching Pique as a long-term replacement for John Terry, whilst United and City are desperate for defensive cover after shaky performances recently.
