The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with Antonio Conte’s view on youth development this season…
In stark contrast to Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte has made an effort to integrate young players into the Chelsea first team – with the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek both getting an opportunity on occasion so far this season.
Nathaniel Chalobah, in particular, is a player that has impressed – with the Englishman brought back following a succession of loan spells and thrust straight into the first team squad by Antonio Conte.
He has really surprised the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern with his talent, with many touting him to force his way into the first team in the coming months – but their hopes have today been brought crashing down with a recent report by Calcio Mercato.
According to Calcio Mercato, Chalobah could be set to leave Chelsea on loan at the end of the season – with a host of clubs reportedly showing an interest in him in recent weeks. The likes of Premier League outfit Watford have reportedly made an approach alongside a number of foreign clubs in an effort to sign the midfield temporarily.
This news has disappointed the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, given that Chalobah has looked very good this season. Notably, there is no mention in the article that Chelsea have a real desire to move Chalobah on, but our landlord doesn’t think that there is any smoke without fire.
Chalobah has made a total of 12 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea this season, with 3 starts coming in cup competition.
