Chelsea midfielder delivers verdict on working under Conte this summer

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very impressed with Jeremie Boga this summer…

The Frenchman is highly rated amongst Chelsea circles, but he has yet to make an impact in the Blues’ first team in competitive fixtures – though it does seem as though that could change this summer.

Boga has been a key part of Chelsea’s first team squad this summer, with the Frenchman forcing his way into the plans of Antonio Conte after a stellar campaign last season whilst on loan, and it appears as though his inclusion is working wonders.

Speaking to the official Chelsea website, Boga has revealed that the Conte effect has been massive: “It is different, I feel more mature in my game and I am better within the team”.

He continued: “I am more strong physically and I am better tactically as well…Now in just the few weeks I have been on pre-season with Antonio Conte, I have been learning a lot tactically and he is good for me”.

Clearly, Boga is really enjoying his spell in the Blues’ first team, and given Chelsea’s lack of offensive depth – he could even be involved during the domestic campaign. Chelsea have yet to upgrade their offensive options, and with just Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard on offer for Conte this season, there is certainly a gap for a player of Boga’s qualities.

Landlord’s Verdict

Jeremie Boga has perhaps been the surprise package of pre-season for the Blues this summer, with the Frenchman arguably emerging as one of their most impressive players.

A lethal attacker, he has all the tricks and quality of a top player – but Conte will be vitally important as he continues to develop as a team member. So far, though, he’s doing everything right.

That said, a strong pre-season means very little in the context of the season. Nathaniel Chalobah was excellent last summer yet was still sold a year later, and so Boga must keep his form up if he is retained by Conte.
