Chelsea midfielder reveals the difficulty of the Premier League title chase

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern still can’t believe the situation that their side is currently in…

This time last year, the Blues were battling relegation – and now they’re flying at the top of the Premier League.

In fact, a few of the Chelsea fans in the pub think that this season is going to be easy, with the Blues likely to tie up the league over the next few months – but one of Chelsea’s most important players doesn’t think that life at the top is going to be so simple.

Willian, whilst a star last season, has taken a while to get going this year – with the Brazilian only recently becoming a regular fixture under Antonio Conte. He has made the league look easy over the last few weeks, popping up with fantastic performances and goals on a weekly basis – but the Brazilian is keen to ensure that the Blues aren’t content just to be at the top.

According to the Evening Standard, Willian said: “In the Premier League you never know what can happen…Everything can change”.

He continued: “Teams are trying even harder to beat us…We have to stay focused because it’s difficult to beat those teams sometimes.

Willian raises some good points, and his sentiments really prove how competitive the Premier League is. In other domestic leagues, like La Liga and the Bundesliga, titles are often looking pretty secure by Christmas – but clearly, the Blues don’t feel that their hard work is even close to being finished. Willian is keen to ensure that his side continue to up their game and develop as a team.

Willian’s perspective has delighted the Chelsea fans in the Tavern, as many were fearing that Chelsea’s loss to Tottenham in the last round of fixtures was a sign that the Blues were getting complacent.

Our landlord thinks that Willian is going to have to continue to impress if he wants to be a key feature going forward, though, as Chelsea will need all their players on form to put off the threat of their Premier League rivals.
