Chelsea romped to an away win at West Brom yesterday as Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard very much came to the fore for the Blues and inspired a 4-0 win at the Hawthorns.
The Blues appeared back to their scintillating best, and with Marcos Alonso also back in on the scoring action, there was plenty to be cheerful for when it came to the Chelsea fans yesterday.
Our landlord here at the Tavern has been impressed with the level of performance the team is churning out in the main, and he thinks that the January window could give the club the ideal chance to further boost their title credentials with the addition of a few quality players.
One such player who could come to Stamford Bridge and do a sterling job is experienced Italian and Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, who knows Conte well from his time with the national team.
While De Rossi is getting into the later stages of his career, the loss of Nemanja Matic in the summer is still very much one which is being felt at the Bridge, and the addition of someone like De Rossi could be a massive boost to the middle of the park.
The Italian is a powerhouse of a midfielder and of world class ability, and would slot in to the English game with ease, one would assume.
De Rossi has spent his entire career in Rome and will go down as a legend with the Serie A giants, but a late career change and the chance to work with Conte again could prove a big lure, and it would be a pleasure to see the experienced Italian take to the Premier League pitches on a weekly basis.
