Metro are providing us with all the gossip today in the Football Transfer Tavern and their latest piece on Chelsea and their quest to sign a forward does not disappoint.
The publication notes that the club are close to agreeing a deal with former Inter Milan forward Samuel Eto’o who of course Jose Mourinho knows well from their treble winning season at the Italian side, where all trophies available were won and both Bayern Munich and Barcelona beaten on the way to a historic treble.
Now it seems that both player and manager fancy linking up again and a one-year deal for Eto’o is thought to be on the table. The deal is said to be worth a massive £6 million to the player and that is certainly something he is keen to take up.
Mourinho is as we all know, also trying to sign Wayne Rooney and the Eto’o deal could well depend on the success of that.
Manchester United are also thought to be interested in the Anzhi Makhachkala forward, yet are focusing their attentions on keeping Rooney at the club.
Chelsea are clearly determined to sign a forward, and no matter who it is – Rooney or Eto’o – it is clear that Demba Ba will be on his way out of the London club with both Malaga and Roma keen on taking the former Newcastle United striker.
Will Chelsea now land Samuel Eto’o and add him to their ranks? Let us know your thoughts below.
