Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t had too much to celebrate this season but there’s reason for optimism heading into the summer, with the punters being informed of an intriguing story from the continent.
French outlet FootMercatoWeb state Chelsea have offered Zlatan Ibrahimovic a two-year deal worth £10m a season, giving the Swedish superstar the opportunity to move to the Premier League this summer.
Ibrahimovic, who scored four-goals at the weekend as Paris Saint-Germain drubbed Troyes 9-0 to win their fourth successive Ligue 1 crown, is expected to leave the French capital in the summer upon the expiration of his contract.
Now with 28 career honours to his name, with his career seeing him star in France, Italy and Spain, English football is the one big feather missing from his cap but it’s likely that could change this summer as a number of Premier League sides are chasing his signature.
With his signing coming on a free transfer, there’s more scope for a huge wage package to be presented to the 34-year-0ld and our landlord is intrigued about the battle that will be taking place.
Chelsea fans, would Ibrahimovic be the ideal summer acquisition? Let us know in the comments below!
