Chelsea have had a rather quiet transfer window this summer as they prepare to bounce back from the disappointing season they have just had.
The Blues eventually replaced Antonio Conte with Maurizio Sarri and have already signed Jorginho from Napoli, however, there has not been much more on the front of signings happen.
There has of course been a vast amount of rumours about who could be arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer, as well as a number of key men reported set to leave the west London outfit, however, latest reports are sure to have shocked the majority of the footballing world.
According to an exclusive report in The Sun, Robert Green is on the verge of joining Chelsea this summer on a free transfer. The former England international is thought to be heading to Stamford Bridge as cover for Thibault Courtois and Willy Caballero and is set to sign a one-year deal.
The former West Ham United and Leeds United man was considering to hang his gloves up during the summer following his release from Huddersfield Town, however, an offer from the Blues appears too good for the 38-year-old to turn down.
This could quite possibly be one of the strangest transfers of the summer so far.
Chelsea are thought to be in the market for a goalkeeper, with the likes of Pepe Reina and Kasper Schmeichel all being linked, however, Green’s name appears to have come out of nowhere.
Furthermore, the fact that the Blues are lining up a move for the former England international could suggest that Courtois will be staying at the Bridge beyond the summer, otherwise, they would have been chasing a high-profile name, rather than the experienced head.
