Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho certainly does things a little bit differently and we here in the Football Transfer Tavern are not shocked at all to hear the latest claim from the Daily Mail.
The publication has claimed that Mourinho has adopted a rather continental way of operating in the transfer market this summer and has instructed his players to speak out about how much they admire Cesc Fabregas.
This is because the Chelsea boss is determined to land the Barcelona midfielder and will not let Manchester City or Arsenal edge his Blues side out of the race.
Given Chelsea have allowed both David Luiz and Frank Lampard to leave – and are seriously considering accepting a bid for Ramires should the price be right – the capture of Cesc is more vital than ever.
Knowing that players need to be loved, Mourinho has been in touch will his top stars and asked them to speak about Cesc in interviews at the World Cup and make it obvious how good they think he is and indeed how much they want him at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal and Santi Cazorla may have already been doing this but we think that words from Spanish colleague Cesar Azpilicueta and indeed potential future team-mate Diego Costa, could go a long way!
Chelsea fans. Do you think this could be the way to land Fabregas or is this just Mourinho and his mind games? Let us know your thoughts below.
