With the winter transfer window open for business, the Football Transfer Tavern is already receiving fresh speculation on an hourly basis as punters try to keep up with the latest reports.
Now Simon Johnson from The Independent has informed punters at the bar that Ligue 1 moneybags Paris Saint Germain will offer Chelsea £30million for unhappy midfielder Juan Mata as they try to lure him to France.
Mata was left frustrated by manager Jose Mourinho’s decision to take him off in the 53rd minute during yesterday’s 3-0 victory over Southampton.
Having just started 11 league games this term, Mata, who has won the Blues player of the year award twice, could depart for the French capital as he seeks more regular football.
Any chances he has of winning a spot in the Spain squad relies heavily on the 25-year-old impressing during the second-half of the season. That appears unlikely to happen at Stamford Bridge where Mourinho prefers Brazilian youngster Oscar to be his creative outlet.
The Blues will be reluctant to lose Mata at this stage of the season but an offer of around £30m is likely to be seriously considered by the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Mourinho continues to insists that Mata remains part of his thoughts however he did admit that his and the club’s ‘door’ is open to a transfer of Mata demands it.
Chelsea have no interest in selling Mata to a Premier League rival, but a move away from England in the next few weeks could suit both parties.
Should Mata be given another chance by Mourinho? Let us know your thoughts.
