Sky Sports have Chelsea fans moving over to the bar here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they claim that the Blues could well be set to welcome one of their loan stars back next season.
As our punters note over a beer, there are a huge amount of Blues players out on loan this season, and Jose Mourinho is monitoring them all closely.
The Chelsea boss spoke about the future of his left back star, Ryan Bertrand, and noted that he feels there is a long-term plan in place at Stamford Bridge, and that could well include the England player.
He noted: “He has a future at Chelsea. A future and a past. Of course he has a future.
“The decision to let him go to Villa was good because he’s playing and what he needed was to play every game.
“But maybe next season he is with us.”
Our landlord notes that considering the form of Cesar Azpilicueta, not to mention the love Jose Mourinho has for the Spaniard, it will be hard for Bertrand to break into the first team – and that is without factoring in a move for Southampton’s Luke Shaw.
Would Bertrand be better advised to seek a permanent switch to Aston Villa? Let us know your thoughts below.
