Chelsea owner to call time on Blues star’s Stamford Bridge career

lampard.jpgChelsea fans look distraught here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Star‘s story of the day is passed around.

The publication are under the impression that Blues owner Roman Abramovich has decided that Frank Lampard will not get a new deal at the club and that his Stamford Bridge career is over.

This is because the player is deemed too old for a one-year deal and unlike John Terry, did not produce the goods last season to change the owner’s mind.

One of our punters points out over a pint that this is despite what manager Jose Mourinho wants.

We know he has always been a Lampard fan and we think that if it was up to him, the long serving midfielder would get a final season at the club.

It has also been claimed that the England international would consider calling it a day should Chelsea fail to hand him that one year extension.

However, we think there will be a host of clubs looking at the midfielder who is of course on a free now.

Chelsea fans. Do you think that Lampard deserves another season at the club even if it is just to get a proper send off after all his efforts over the years? Let us know your thoughts below.
