Chelsea plan to send Reece James to one of Europe’s top clubs

Many Chelsea fans won’t like what they saw at Stamford Bridge yesterday as their side failed to make many inroads, which led to them being bailed out by Eden Hazard in the dying embers.

Of course, with the transfer ban raising concern ahead of the summer transfer window, perhaps Maurizio Sarri will turn to a few of the club’s current loan army next season.

What’s the news?

Although, according to The Sun (10 March, page 61) (via HITC), Chelsea plan to send Reece James to one of Europe’s top clubs next season to help him hone his trade.

Also, Crystal Palace are willing to pay £10 million to sign the defender.

Reece James has caught the eye at Wigan Athletic in the current campaign and he has all the ingredients to become a star in the Premier League, so Chelsea will be keen to see how he develops in the future.

The Verdict:

James has the potential to become a hero at Stamford Bridge and he already has the ability to give Cesar Azpilicueta a run for his money, with his pace, skill and crossing ability making him a much more dangerous full-back.

Indeed, sending the youngster out on loan to one of Europe’s top clubs could be dangerous as he may end up deciding that he wants to join them permanently. Many fans may be slightly baffled by their side wanting to send him out on loan, as his performances have suggested that he’s ready to make the step up at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri hasn’t really given youth a chance in the current campaign as Reuben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi have had to settle for limited minutes on the field, and it looks as if his youth policy isn’t about to change.

Chelsea fans, would you be happy with him joining one of Europe’s top clubs on loan? Surely his performances this season suggest he could play a part at Stamford Bridge next season…
