The Express have an interesting story for us in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as they inform that Chelsea are plotting a January offer for Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz and could offer Demba Ba as part-exchange.
Mourinho has started the season playing new summer signing Samuel Eto’o over Spanish international Fernando Torres, however he now appears ready to move for Yilmaz as he looks for more goals from his striking department.
The Turkish international striker almost signed for Lazio over the summer and was also linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool before ultimately remaining at the Turk Telekom Arena but he has declared his interest in playing in England.
Mourinho’s former side Real Madrid faced the Turkish outfit in the Champions League last season, and Jose must have been impressed with the 28-year-old forward as Gala gave Real an almighty scare (unlike the same fixture this term!), and so much so he is ready to sacrifice Ba in a bid to land his man.
Potential suitors were told that Yilmaz would cost over £20 million but including the former Newcastle United front man as part of the deal could help to lower the initial cost.
Ba looks surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and was strongly linked with moves to Arsenal, West Ham United and Roma on deadline day. It is thought that the Senegalese striker would be interested in a switch to Turkey to join up with former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini at the Istanbul giants.
Could Yilmaz be the perfect solution to the Blues’ attacking woes? Let us know your thoughts below.
