The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern had forgotten that he was still a Chelsea player…
It has been a very disappointing spell in London for Chelsea midfielder Marko Van Ginkel.
After arriving in 2013, the Dutchman would play a couple of games before suffering a long-term knee injury that would rule him out of the rest of the season.
It has been a struggle since that point for Van Ginkel, having had a couple of relatively disappointing loans at various European clubs.
It would appear that the Blues are still yet to give up on the midfielder, however, with a fresh move reportedly planned for January.
According to Sunday’s print edition of The People (via the Daily Star), Chelsea plan to send Van Ginkel to Dutch side PSV in January – following the completion of his rehabilitation at the Blues Cobham training ground.
A move to the club that he spent last season on loan at was expected to come at the start of the season, but a number of niggling injuries have continued to plague the Dutchman.
Our landlord is hoping that another 6-month spell in the Netherlands could bring the best out of Van Ginkel.
The now-23-year-old was impressive during his opening few appearances for Chelsea, and the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping that he will be able to get back to his best.
