Chelsea Player Ratings : The ‘Who’s Mark Hughes?’ Edition

A great win for Chelsea after their Barcelona heroics in midweek. Roberto Di Matteo certainly got a performance from a changed side which featured a makeshift back four as Chelsea ran out 6-1 winners after a very comfortable afternoon and a very special one for a certain number 9.

Cech = 7 Rarely called upon but made the saves when QPR managed to mount an attack. Could do nothing about Cisse’s goal and is showing his true goalkeeping brilliance lately.

Ferreira = 7 Doesn’t feature too much anymore as his career draws to a close but showed why he was once one of the most highly rated RB’s in world football.

Bosingwa = 7 Still not a fan but he definately looks more comfortable at CB than RB and he’ll have to be for the next few weeks.

Terry = 7 Another captain’s performance from Chelsea’s heart and scored a good goal. Dived in a little early for QPR’s consolation goal.

Cole = 7 Didn’t put a foot wrong once more and is showing why he is the best LB in the world.

Essien = 6 I’m a big Essien fan but he seems to be struggling to regain form after his two serious injuries. Looked leggy throughout and one has to wonder if he may be moved on in the summer.

Lampard = 8 Linked up well with the front three and Juan Mata as Chelsea constantly tore through the QPR defence. Still one of the best around, not bad for an ‘old guy’ eh?

Mata = 8 After criticism from some for his performances in the CL the little Spaniard was back to his best today as he pick holes in QPR time after time. Majestic.

Sturridge = 8 Scored a delightful goal on his weaker foot after 46 seconds and showed some of his early season form.

Torres = 9 Faultless. That is the only way to describe the number 9’s performance today as he scored a sublime hat-trick (his first of many for Chelsea) and was constantly involved in everything positive. Awarded MoM by Sky.

Kalou = 7 Probably the only Chelsea attacker who didn’t shine today. Rarely involved but did provide a delightful through ball for Torres’s first.

Ramires = 7 Didn’t see much of the Brazilian star but he did his job and is a constant performer for Chelsea.

Malouda = 8 Looked a real threat when he came on. Scored a good goal.

Hutchinson = 7 A fairytale story for this youngster who retire from the game not to long ago. Great to see him playing and looked very comfortable in Chelsea’s back four.
