The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern remain hopeful that he could return to Stamford Bridge ahead of next season…
There has been a lot of anticipation here in the Tavern amongst the Chelsea faithful with regards to the future of Blues starlet Andreas Christensen.
The young Danish defender rise has been well profiled over the last 18 months, and since arriving at Borussia Monchengladbach, he has transformed from a player with potential to a top-tier central defender.
His form in the Bundesliga has even got our landlord excited, and he is a hard man to please!
However, whilst the air in the Tavern is thick with anticipation as the Chelsea faithful await Christensen’s return to SW6 next summer – the Danish stalwart has thrown his Chelsea future into doubt.
Elaborating on his sentiments, the Dane also confirmed that a prolonged stay in Germany was “possible”, though he did not flat out confirm that he would be staying in the Bundesliga.
Our bar staff think that often when a player refuses to confirm that his future is with his current or parent club; it is usually a sign of an imminent departure.
This will come as disappointing news to the Chelsea faithful here in the Tavern, with one particularly vocal fan touting that Christensen was the perfect player to take over the mantle left behind by John Terry.
The 20-year-old defender has been in fine form for Borussia Monchengladbach since joining the club 2015. He made 31 appearances for the club last season and was eventually given the in-house Player of the Year award – ahead of Arsenal’s latest big money signing Granit Xhaka.
Our landlord thinks that the Blues were definitely planning on the return of Christensen next season, especially with Terry looking set to depart. Could this scupper their plans?
