The Football Transfer Tavern is busy this evening as Metro report that Chelsea are preparing to make a £25 million January bid for former Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba.
The Juventus midfielder has been targeted as the perfect candidate as Jose Mourinho looks to add another midfield man to his squad during the upcoming transfer window.
Pogba decided to leave Old Trafford last year after growing tired of the lack of first team football under Sir Alex Ferguson in Manchester and has since established himself as a regular with the Serie A champions.
The 20-year-old has been highly impressive at the Juventus Stadium and his form has seen him break into the French national team which has brought about suggestions that United should have done more to keep hold of him.
However it now appears that United supporters could see the combative midfielder playing in the Premier League once more but with Mourinho’s team as Chelsea line up a January offer.
Interestingly Pogba only has two-and-a-half years reaming on his deal with the Italian giants and Jose is reportedly confident that a bid of around £25 million will be enough to land the Frenchman.
Juventus president Andrea Agnelli even admitted last week that Juve could be forced to sell Pogba if a substantial offer was received.
He said: “I am trying to think what will be of us in two or three years’ time if we get a massive offer for one of the best talents we have today, Pogba, the French 20-year-old.
“Would we be able to retain him? I don’t know. I don’t think at the moment we have the strength to retain such a player.”
