Chelsea plot big money offer as Blues look to seal deal for primary transfer target

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are growing more and more desperate for their club to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer…

The Belgian was in fine form for the Toffees last season, firing his way close to the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts, and now it looks as though Chelsea are willing to pull out all of the stops in order to bring the Belgian to Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are willing to offer Lukaku more than £150,000-per-week to join the club this summer, which is more than Diego Costa reportedly earns at present.

It would certainly be a huge show of faith for the Blues to invest that much in Lukaku, but it is hard to dispute the fact that he is worth it. A proven Premier League goalscorer, Lukaku bagged 5 more goals than Diego Costa last season – finishing the season with an impressive 25 goals in the English top flight.

Lukaku’s ceiling is arguably far higher than Costa’s too, with the Belgian still just 24-years-old. Last year was somewhat of a coming of age for the striker, but everybody in the Transfer Tavern is expecting him to do even more next season. Indeed, should a move to Chelsea come to pass, it seems likely that Lukaku would get even more chances with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Pedro behind him – and so it would make sense for his goalscoring tally would likely go up.

It is looking set to be a season of change in the attack for Chelsea this summer, and Conte seems desperate for Lukaku to join.
