With just a few days to go until the Premier League transfer window slams shut, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were hoping for a quiet end to the month…
The Blues are, of course, flying – and it could be argued that any players coming in or going out of the club could have an adverse effect on the longevity of the Blues’ reign at the top of Premier League.
Alas, with Asmir Begovic reportedly linked with a move to Bournemouth – Antonio Conte’s hand has been forced to scout out a potential replacement – and if Sky Sports news are to be believed, the Italian has found his man.
According to Sky Sports News on Twitter, Chelsea are reportedly planning to bid for Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who has been impressive this season.

Earlier reports had suggested that Gordon was on Chelsea’s shortlist, but this reported move would indicate that Gordon stands atop it – with the Italian seemingly keen to get a deal done quickly.
His signing would, in theory, allow Asmir Begovic to leave – with Chelsea reportedly happy for the Bosnian to depart should they find a suitable replacement.
Gordon has been impressing in Scotland since making the move in 2014, and is currently Brendan Rodgers’ first choice goalkeeper. He has won the Scottish Premier League twice since his arrival, with the 34-year-old a vital part of proceedings at Celtic Park.
