It’s a packed Boxing Day of action in the Football Transfer Tavern but there are some raised eyebrows at the latest transfer speculation making its way into the bar.
Today’s copy of the The Sun have been left on the the bar with suggestions that Chelsea are lining up a £48 million bid for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain in January highlighted.
The Serie A outfit are reportedly ready to sell the Argentine international, only six months after he joined them from Real Madrid, with the Blues thinking about paying as much as £48 million to sign the 26-year-old.
Jose Mourinho previously managed Higuain at Madrid for three years and he now views him as the potential answer to his attacking crisis at Stamford Bridge.
His current strikeforce are struggling to find their scoring boots with Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba all failing to find consistency in front of goal.
Higuain was thought to be heading to Arsenal in the summer before he made a surprise decision to sign for Rafael Benitez’s Napoli instead. However if today’s reports are to be believed a move to the Premier League could be back on the cards.
Is he really a realistic target for the Blues? Let us know your thoughts below.
