It’s been a disappointing day for Chelsea and manager Antonio Conte, who has failed in his pursuit of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Blues had been targeting their former striker for a number of weeks but Manchester United have this morning confirmed that the Belgian striker looks set to move to Old Trafford after a fee between the two clubs was agreed.
It’s a massive blow to Chelsea’s transfer plans going forward and after they won the Premier League last season, manager Antonio Conte would not have predicted this sort of struggle in bringing in top players.
But after the disappointment of losing out on their former striker, Ialian outfit Calciomercato has reported the Blues could be interested in bringing Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata to Stamford Bridge over the coming months.
24-year-old Morata had been a target for Mourinho at United but after finding himself making slow progress in a pursuit for the Spanish international, their interest waned.
But Morata is a player Conte knows well from his time in Italy with Juventus, with the pair working together during Morata’s loan spell at the club.
Morata is struggling to get game-time at the Bernabeu under manager Zinedine Zidane but still managed to dispatch 20 goals last time out.
Chelsea are keen on adding to their ranks after their title win last time out but will need to start picking up the pace if they’re to continue battling with some of the division’s bigger sides next season.
Blues fans- would Morata be a decent option? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
