Chelsea fans are all in agreement here in the Football Transfer Tavern – Jose Mourinho certainly knows what he likes.
‘The Special One’ is set to return to Atletico Madrid for the third time this summer according to the Daily Star, who reckon the Blues are lining up a move for Brazilian defender Miranda.
Chelsea are understood to have opened talks with the new La Liga champions over a £20 million move, having already signed Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from the Spaniards this summer.
Miranda has told the club he wants to leave this summer with Atletico having already rejected an offer from Barcelona.
Manchester United have also been linked with the 29-year-old, but a bid is yet to materialise.
That has left the door open for Jose Mourinho, with sources close to the player indicating he would be interested in a move to West London.
Miranda was a key member of Diego Simeone’s superb defence last season as Atletico Madrid claimed a shock La Liga title and came within seconds of winning the Champions League.
However, Simeone has seen his side ripped apart by the Blues this summer.
Costa and Filipe Luis have already signed, whilst midfielder Tiago is also close to returning to Stamford Bridge.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is set to start the season with the Blues, having spent the last three years on loan at the Vicente Calderon.
