Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have endured a difficult season but there’s reason for optimism heading into next year, with Antonio Conte set to begin his reign at Stamford Bridge.
A wealth of signings are expected from the Italian boss and a new name has now been thrown into the ring, with The Mirror stating Chelsea have joined the hunt for Leicester City’s quality midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Kante has proved himself to be one of the signings of the season, with his midfield performances earning him comparisons to Chelsea legend Claude Makelele and helping the Foxes fire themselves towards shock success in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old’s performances have earned him recognition from France boss Didier Deschamps and Kante has been called into Les Bleus squad for two Euro 2016 warm-up matches this month.
His displays have also caught the eye of top clubs around Europe and Chelsea want to make him one of Conte’s first signings, as they need a new commanding figure in the middle of their field.
Our landlord believes Kante would be mad to swap Leicester for a side without Champions League football and has urged the midfielder to demand similar experiences if he does leave the Foxes.
Chelsea fans, would Kante fix your midfield? Let us know in the comments below!
