Well at least England might be able to pinch this from Russia.
Brazilian goalkeeper, Guiherme Alvim Marinato, who currently plays for Locomotive Moscow, is being targeted by Chelsea as Carlo Ancelotti (or should that be Roman Abramovich) looks to bring in a better option to Hilario or Ross Turnbull as backup to Peter Cech.
The 24-year old has made 47 appearances for the Russian club since his move from Brazil and his value has rocketed after a string of terrific performances in last season’s European campaign and the 2010 Russian season.
As a result, Chelsea would need to part with somewhere in the region on £3.5m to bring the Brazilian from the Russians to the errr Russian owner.
OK, maybe the English can’t beat the Russians to anything!
