Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are being as optimistic as they can ahead of the Premier League’s return and they’re pleased with the latest transfer rumour concerning their club.
The Telegraph reports that the Blues have added West Brom’s Saido Berahino to their January wish-list, as Jose Mourinho targets new strikers to bolster his struggling attack.
Chelsea are currently languishing in 16th spot in the Premier League, three points above the relegation spots, with their striker options of Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy struggling to make an impression for the West London outfit.
With Mourinho in the market for a forward, Chelsea are now considering a £20m swoop for Berahino; who would provide a double boost, improving their forward options and increasing the club’s home-grown contingent.
Berahino has also proven himself in English football, netting 14 Premier League goals last season, and the England U21 international will have just 18 months remaining on his contract with the Baggies come New Year.
Fans at the bar are concerned by the player’s behaviour though, after a failed exit from West Brom over the summer led to him declaring he would never play for the Baggies again.
Chelsea fans, is Berahino good enough to save your attack? Do you need more than one striker to be signed? Let us know in the comments below!
