Chelsea prepare £55,000-a-week contract for teenage wonderkid

John StonesIt’s a huge day in the Football Transfer Tavern with the title set to be decided later on as Liverpool look to end Chelsea’s chances.

Before the big match, there are interesting reports from the Daily Star who suggest that Chelsea are monitoring Everton centre back John Stones ahead of a possible summer bid.

The paper report that the Blues would be prepared to pay £20 million to land the former Barnsley defender who has been excellent in the last few weeks.

There seems to be some issues over Stones’ agent but should that be sorted out the 19-year-old will be offered a massive contract worth £55,000-a-week to persuade him that Stamford Bridge should be his new home.

Jose Mourinho seems to have outlined Stones as the potential replacement for John Terry in SW6 and that could see £20 million forked out to land his services when the transfer window re-opens.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez will be desperate to hang onto his young defender but the sort of money on offer from the Champions League semi-finalists will be hard to resist.

We think this could be a good move for the Blues but do you think that Stones could prove to Terry’s successor? Let us know your thoughts below.
