Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were quite emotional last night in the bar as they sipped their drinks, with the news concerning their beloved captain, but it appears the future is not set in stone.
John Terry stated after yesterday’s FA Cup fourth round victory over MK Dons that he will leave Chelsea in the summer, after not receiving an offer of a new contract, but a statement from the club suggested otherwise.
John was advised that while no new deal is currently on the table, that could change in coming months. We remain in dialogue with him.’
It therefore seems that the ball is firmly in the court of whoever the new manager coming in is, though it’s quite possible that the veteran defender may be seen as surplus to requirement by Guus Hiddink’s successor.
Our landlord believes Terry is still useful though and would like to see him remain at Chelsea, finishing his career as a one-club man; something that’s rare in modern football.
Chelsea fans, should Terry be allowed to leave? Let us know in the comments below!
