Chelsea prepare new deal until 2018 for Blues star

Thibaut CourtoisAway from the latest developments at Old Trafford, punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are remembering that there is a rather big Champions League tie tonight.

It’s the first-leg of the Champions League semi-final as Chelsea travel to La Liga table toppers Atletico Madrid in search of a place in the final.

One of the major talking points has been whether or not on-loan Blues starlet Thibaut Courtois will make an appearance and it appears that UEFA are forcing the Stamford Bridge outfit to allow the 21-year-old to play.

We expect the Belgian international to have a storming game for Diego Simeone’s side and it comes as no surprise to see Mail Online suggesting that Jose Mourinho is lining up a new long-term deal for the outstanding young goalkeeper.

While Petr Cech remains first choice at Stamford Bridge for now, we don’t think it will be long before Courtois is given his chance with the Premier League club.

There were suggestions in the tavern that the keeper could be sold to Atletico as part of the deal to bring Brazilian-born Spanish international Diego Costa to SW6.

Should Chelsea cash-in on their young star or are they right to get him signed up? Let us know your thoughts below.
