Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are bracing themselves for an exit of one of their high-profile stars, as the condemn the board for another unsuccessful addition.
The Independent states that Chelsea loanee Radamel Falcao has returned to parent club Monaco for an assessment on his thigh injury and the Colombian could see his season-long stint with the Blues cut-short.
After a poor season on-loan with Manchester United last term, many were surprised to see Chelsea take a risk by agreeing a similar deal for the Colombian. However, it hasn’t paid off as Falcao has scored just once for the Blues- and hasn’t featured since the end of October.
Falcao himself is said to be considering pushing for an early exit, feeling that he won’t receive game-time in the second-half of the campaign as Diego Costa and Loic Remy stand ahead of him in the pecking order- whilst there still could be new recruits added to the frame.
The South American icon has seen his career dip significantly since making a £52m switch from Atletico Madrid to Monaco in 2013, spending just one-year with the French side and suffering a major knee injury that ruled him out of the 2014 World Cup.
An unsuccessful year with United soon followed and Falcao has been unable to recover his form at Chelsea, with our landlord believing that his time at the top of European football is long-gone.
Chelsea fans, was it a mistake to take Falcao this year? Let us know in the comments below!
