The Football Transfer Tavern has opened with a frenzy this morning after reports emerged overnight that Jose Mourinho is set to return to Chelsea and he is planning to fetch Athletico Madrid star Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge with him.
The incredible news was broken by German newspaper Bild late last night and that has led to several reports from English papers confirming the information.
Interim boss Rafael Benitez will leave at the end of the season and Jose Mourinho is ‘almost certain’ to return in a second coming at Stamford Bridge.
The Sun reports that Chelsea will pay his £53 million release clause to lure the Colombian international to England and Mourinho is a huge fan of the forward after watching him first hand during the last few La Liga seasons.
‘The Special One’ saw his Real Madrid side demolished by former German champions Borussia Dortmund and he will leave Madrid at the end of the current campaign with a move back to Chelsea looking highly likely. The Sun suggests that the fact Mourinho and Falcao share the same agent – Jorge Mendes – this will make any possible move easier once Jose’s return to England is confirmed.
The signing of Falcao who has been a long-term target for owner Roman Abramovich could be perfect welcoming gift to Mourinho.
Could Chelsea be set to send shockwaves through world football with these moves? Surely a lot depends on Champions League qualification? Rate this rumour below.
