Chelsea pushing for signing of £42.2m striker

CavaniChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have made their desperation for new faces in January clear and they’re getting excited about a potential recruit that’s emerged in recent days.

Metro, reporting via French media outlet BuzzSports, state that Chelsea are actively pushing to lure Edinson Cavani to the Premier League from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Uruguayan striker has always been second-fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the French capital and could be tempted by a move to London, where he’d likely be considered first-choice ahead of misfiring Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao.

Reports state that PSG would part ways with the South American for a fee of £42.2m- which Chelsea are prepared to offer.

The 28-year-old is one of the most highly-rated strikers in European football and could be the catalyst Chelsea need to save their season, with the ambition being to secure a top-four finish.

Blues fans at the bar believe Cavani would be a decent purchase and that their side are in no position to be reluctant about parting ways with such a large chunk of cash.
