Chelsea fans aren’t quite sure how to feel after Jose Mourinho’s dismissal yesterday but the mood has been lifted in the Transfer Tavern, as has the bar tab, after exciting transfer reports emerged.
The Evening Standard states the struggling Premier League side are readying a move for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, who currently tops the leagues scoring charts with 15 goals from 16 appearances.
28-year-old Vardy has been in sensational form this season, setting a Premier League record after scoring in 11 consecutive matches, but it’s said Mourinho wasn’t convinced that the player was good enough for Chelsea.
With Mourinho now having been axed for the second-time by Roman Abramovich, Chelsea are ready to swoop for England international Vardy in January as they attempt to salvage something from their disastrous campaign.
Leicester City are desperate to keep hold of Vardy in the new year, with former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri stating there will be no departures from the surprise Premier League leaders in January, but the Blues are ready to test that theory.
